Collectors from the Urenui Lions and Little Fighters Trust will be manning the gates from 4.30pm-9.30pm

Please help us with your Gold Coin Donation – this is a community run event so all donations are very gratefully received and ensure the event can continue each year

Once inside the venue Urenui Lions and Little Fighers Trust volunteers will be located to hand out candles, holders and programmes free of charge

Gates officially open.

This year there will be fun activities for the children (face painting, bouncy castle, etc) as well as craft stalls and food trucks located at the top of the Bowl hill. The children’s activities and the craft stalls will only operate between 4.30pm and 8.00pm. The food trucks within the venue will operate throughout the event.

6.30pm

Christmas At The Bowl Variety Show commences

Approximate time for the Powerco Fireworks display – please be advised this is a live fireworks display and as such it will have loud sounds with the potential for small debris to fall.  If you are concerned with this please leave the area prior to the display.  The Christmas At The Bowl Trust complies with all NZ Standards and Regulations and employ a professional fireworks technician who uses best practice standards.

Show concludes and audience departs – IMPORTANT NOTE:  The TSB Festival of Lights will be in operation on the evening of this event however New Plymouth District Council will provide a safe lighting route from the TSB Bowl of Brooklands through Pukekura Park after the Christmas at the Bowl event. Safety lighting will be on until 11pm to ensure your safe exit.

Fee:

Gold Coin Donation at the gate – Lions collectors will have branded Christmas At The Bowl buckets and be wearing fluoro vests.

Candles:

Candles, candle holders and programmes are all given out by Lions Club volunteers once within the venue.

Food:

All audience members are welcome to bring along their own picnics or takeaway food – there is no restriction on the food permitted into the venue.

Alcohol:

No alcohol is on sale within the venue.

Disabled:

The Ironside vehicle will be available to transport those with disabilities from the top of the hill down to chairs specially set up at bottom – this will then return at the end of the show.

Vehicles with disability stickers will be able to access the Brooklands Drive to allow for the drop off and pick up of disabled persons prior to and after the show. For those who do not have anyone to drive the vehicle and park outside the venue there will be limited parks available on a first come, first served basis within the Gables lawn. Please note that these carparks are only for disabled audience members with full disability stickers on their vehicles who cannot arrange a driver to drop off and pick up.

Parking:

For the general public this is available on the streets around the venue as well as free parking within the Racecourse with access via Coronation Avenue.

IPhone App:

A Christmas At The Bowl app has been developed and is available to download for free via the Apple store – words for all carols will be available along with information on the show. Please ensure you do this prior to entering the venue as data access is quite limited.

Postponement:

In the event of inclement weather the event may be postponed to Monday 15th December. A decision on this will be made around 3pm on Sunday 15th December and will be notified via The Hits (90FM) – you can also text BOWL to 4487 for a weather update on the day; visit our Facebook page Christmas At The Bowl Taranaki; or see our website – www.christmasatthebowl.co.nz . Should the event be transferred to the Monday all timings and information remains the same.

TSB Bowl of Brooklands Map

The TSB Bowl of Brooklands was constructed by the community for the community back in 1957. This large bowl-shaped valley containing a lake was transformed into one of the world’s most recognised and acclaimed natural amphitheatres. It is a unique venue now comprising an impressive outdoor sound stage, large grass amphitheatre and public amenities. Located in the heart of New Plymouth it can be accessed by foot from numerous entrances with vehicle entrance via Brooklands Road and ample off street parking for large events available via the Racecourse on Coronation Avenue.
